HeHeHe, it has started

Fiiiinally, summer movie season has begun. And no, I don't like Terminator, Up, Transformers, etc. I'm talkin the good stuff. The stuff that won't leave you disappointed, but might leave your undies a wee bit wet. Summer movie making has arrived and here is the first taste of brilliance.

Summer's Songs

This summer seems like a good one for awesome movies and music releases. With five more weeks left of school, summer is almost here. Good times will abound. Just because I have some time on my hands and I'm motivated, I think I'll list some records I'm eagerly awaiting and I think maybe if you have something you're looking forward to you can remind me that I should be even more excited than I already am.

Starting off, its April already and summer break doesn't start until May but I probably won't obtain these tunes until I get home.

April 21

As Cities Burn -- Hell or High Water

Might be there last one, kinda seems like they might be winding down but the tasty previews out so far are great.

Manchester Orchestra -- Mean Everything to Nothing

The first record was amazing and pretty dark and gloomy, this one seems to be a little lighter yet heavier (heyo!).

May 9

The Working Title -- Bone Island

Love them because they take simpleness and make it awesomeness plus they have the crucial passion thats missing in so many artists nowadays.

Love this low budget video: Followed - The Working Title
Favorite new song so far: Dead Inside

Better Than Ezra -- Paper Empire

One of those bands I love that kinda doesn't fit with any of the other music I listen to but what the hey. Not too much info on the new record but the new single is up on their site.

May 19

mewithoutYou -- it's all crazy! it's all false! it's all a dream! it's alright

So I've enjoyed every record so far by mwY, but I was definitely a little disappointed that they had moved in a chill direction. At least... I was hoping it wouldn't go further to the chill... but from just judging from the first song posted... its still chill but the music shifted back a tad towards the old awesomeness.

Family Force 5 -- Dance or Die with a Vengeance

So I just got into FF5, because for awhile now everyone back home has been in love with them... and so I purchased the tunes and ... is goooood. Some people like the old stuff better... but I got both albums at the same time and I like both but probably DoD a tad more so this remix and craziness should be good. Favorite song from DoD would be "Share it with me"... they say it is even more off the chain. One of the songs is up online and its perty neat.

Sometime Summer

Mae -- Songs

Well you probably know, new song every month. First three a grood, the rest should be enjoyable as well.

Luna Halo - EP

Kinda goin Mae style. 3 EP's comin out sometime soonly. At least one this summer. New tune on their myspace. Good things. Brings back memories of a big tent at LBC and hang time with the dudes of which only one remained but actually now another has reunited to make it aaaaalright.

So that took me quite awhile to compose, but it felt good because I had the time with no other responsibilities until tomorrow. Take it or leave it, as I say if I left out your favorite... let me know cuz I might like it and we can all celebrate together.

Summer o' summer. Come quickly.

Off to the football scrimmage. Hopefully I can get some good pishurs there.

Love to you all bois ant girlse.

Complaining

So being in college I deal with a lot of people complaining. It's one of my pet peeves. Ironically, I do understand that I happen to be complaining about people complaining. Anyways, I enjoy this video. Its about complaining, and they really make a good point.

Big Dreams

Wow wow wee waa. Some weird dreams last night. Maybe I shouldn't eat a whole pizza for dinner next time. But at the same time dreams are so much fun. I would liken my dreams to the closest I'll ever get to being a Hollywood actor. The dream is my movie and no matter what happens, I wake up to find it didn't. I will share an excerpt from last nights film:

Hanging out with random people from high school, well actually I never even really knew them they were, three years younger than me but yes I'm hanging out with them in... I guess an airport like building except it had no gates or planes. Just big and... well it reminded me of an airport. We're standing around when the police show up. I figure they're after some other troublemakers but this guy who looks straight out of Reno 911 looks straight at us and fires his gun with a loud thud, not a crack like a bullet. I turn to see the projectile, in an Iron Man, Jericho missile style, shoot up into the air then split apart and down comes this massive net right on top of us. I was standing fairly far away from my "friends" by now and the net only manages to catch one of my legs under it. I considered myself lucky tho, because about every foot there was a massive hook that ate into the ground, and that really would have sucked if it landed on my leg. Anyways, they arrest us, I know I didn't do anything wrong so I thought it was just my friends or something, and then they accuse me of being a drug dealer. Yeah so I'm in deep dookie.

I get put into the police car and I start spilling about how I'm innocent. It was kinda weird tho because I was in the passenger seat, and when i turned to see who was driving, it was definitely Miley Cyrus. She's a very understanding girl. She thought I might have been drunk when i was arrested but I told her I don't drink so she was like... oh wow. So then we get out at some other place, and it turns out she wants me to be in one of the scenes of her next big hit movie so i walk down the hall and enter this room with her and theres a rock climbing wall. She gets to the top and I start climbing up... and then i woke up. So I try my hardest to fall back into my dream but it seems like its just going on without me so I stopped trying.

I love dreams, except for the leave you hanging aspect.

Sorry for the length but I like writing down dreams when I wake up.

Have you had any sweet dreams recently?

Joaquin?

So after following the news articles about his retirement, hip hop aspirations, hoax... and finally the Letterman interview, I'd have to say Joaquin Phoenix is officially the coolest actor ever for this "character", or he definitely needs help. I really hope it is all in jest somehow though, because I like the guy and it would be sad if he never did another movie. This is no big issue but if anyone ever finds good stuff explaining this stuff, gimme some notice.

My 25 random things.

I didn't feel like tagging people so I'll post this here. I was a little bit bored, so of course I attempted the big 25. Now I really feel accomplished.

1. My childhood crush was on Maid Marian, the fox from the Disney cartoon Robin Hood. Something about those eyes…
2. I think and speak better when I’m walking. At home whenever someone calls I walk in circles around the dining room table and usually don’t notice for a few minutes.
3. I wish women gave birth to puppies instead of babies. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baby as cute as a puppy, and in fact, the only cute baby I have ever seen was… me.
4. I enjoy standing on top of high(er) things. Chairs, heating radiators, stacks of pillows, naaature.
5. I have a Febreze vanilla bean air freshener in my room and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
6. For some reason I like dark, smoky atmospheres, especially during concerts.
7. I like to sleep with a teddy bear, just because I like to hold onto something when I’m trying to get to sleep. If no teddy is available I can use a small pillow, jacket, or bag of rice.
8. Unless I’m in a public restroom, I always sit down when I go potty. Call me a girl, but I’d rather relax and not have to clean up the seat and floor afterwards.
9. I still don’t have a cell phone.
10. Clowns hold a special place in my heart. I had a video on how to become a clown when I was a child and it really left a positive mark on my life. I think all clowno-chondriacs should be forced into watching it as therapy. I think it could change the world.
11. I don’t do naps. When I wake up in the morning, no matter how early, I’m up for the day and won’t sleep until night time.
12. I like to do nice things for people without telling them. The next time something nice happens to you and you don’t know who did it, just remember that.
13. I clean the toilet every time before I use it when I’m sharing it with anyone but my family.
14. I’m color blind so please don’t ask me if your clothes match.
15. My family was having a new home built and I went over to explore when they just had the frame and stairs up. I went into what would soon be my room and wondered why the workers had left a half full lemon-lime Gatorade bottle out in the open. I didn’t realize until I smelled it that it wasn’t Gatorade.
16. I really dig mechanical pencils. 0.5 lead only.
17. The book I most remember from my childhood is “Scuppers the Sailor Dog.”
18. I actually enjoy throwing up. I don’t do it often so don’t call me bulimic but when the occasion does arise I’m not disappointed.
19. I don’t like any dressing on my salads. Just give me straight veggies.
20. I use Gillette dry skin hydrator + body wash and you should too. That stuff lathers like no other.
21. When I was younger and my sister had a horse I used to play on gigantic hills of horse poop. I think one time I actually pushed Adam Covell down and he got it all up in his clothes.
22. Sometimes just hearing a word can trigger me to totally get distracted and lose myself inside my head right in the middle of a conversation. I’m so sorry to anyone that I do that to… mainly Laura… but I promise it’s not because I don’t care about what you were saying.
23. I used to want to be just like Davey Havok.
24. I think I might be starting to get tired of chocolate. Maybe not.
25. I really love my friends and family. Every one of them.

What a Show

I've been incredibly nostalgic lately, actually I've almost wished I was born 50 years ago. The TV they had was so much better. Honestly when black and white can entertain me more than almost anything we have today, you know it was good. It was on a totally different level from what TV is today.

I'd have to say Tom and Jerry were my favorites in the cartoon department. I think they trump the roadrunner and Wiley coyote anyday, although Looney Tunes had a ton of great ones.

I think I've just gotten fed up with all the "comedy" these days. Don't get me wrong, I can get a laugh out of pretty much anything where people are trying to do ridiculous stunts or charades, but I can't remember the last time I actually laughed my way through a movie. They either have to curse so much you laugh just because its so flippant and honestly pointless, ooooor they have to throw a ton of trash into it.

I'd take a good ol' Three Stooges any day.
I Love Lucy was great, Leave It To Beaver, McHales Navy, Gomer Pile... so many good shows.

I wish we could make movies and shows with the same kind of class that they had years ago. I leave you with what I think is some of the best representation of the good days gone by. If you've never seen it, I hope you can take some time and appreciate it. Its from Dean Martin's Celebrity Roast. A gathering of the greats to commemorate other greats. There were a ton to choose from but I only put one on here, so if you like it, there are a ton more linked to it. Thanks for reading my blithering. Adieu.

Male Incompetency

I so enjoy cloudy yet warm(er) days. Yesterday was a drizzle fest and cold... yet no snow so it so wasn't worth it.

This morning as I watched television, I decided to start a list of things that I thought everyone and their mom knew, yet I find every day that my fellow dude friends are clueless. I'm not meaning to offend anyone, and (even though probably only 2 people read this), feel free to leave any habits/quirks that you can think of even if its me and I just don't know it yet. Or, if you agree/are disturbed/think I'm a sissy for listing something, let it be known. I'll keep this going for awhile each day I come up with something, but for now I leave you with three:

-Placing the toilet plunger in the shower after using it.

-Making a grilled cheese sandwich, by toasting two pieces of bread in the toaster and then sticking a piece of cheese in the middle.

-Completely ignoring the expiration date on the milk jug when purchasing. (Sometimes even I have trouble finishing a gallon in 2 days.)

And with that, I will start my work for the day. Good tidings be to all of ya'll.

Here's To Her

Yesterday morning, my mom's best friend in England died. I guess I can't remember her age but she was up there and she lived a great life. I only ever spoke to her twice a year usually and then had the occasional visit but Mom talked with her every few days. It was sad to lose someone like her, and it was worse for my mom, but the kind of life she lived made it a whole lot easier for everyone to say goodbye, I think. I guess you could call her my godmother, my parents met Edna a few months before I was born and my mom's mom died a few months after I came about, so Edna really was Mom's adopted mother in a way. Edna lived through World War II as a child, hiding in bomb shelters as the Nazi's bombed London. I'm sure my mom knows a lot more personal stories of Edna's life but I never had the time with her that she did. I do know that Edna was an awesome painter. Most of the pictures hanging in my house were done bye Edna. Always bright and colorful, usually floral or some other landscape. Matched her personality. She was so bright and loving. Just one of those people that even though you talk to them... once in a blue moon, they encourage you and motivate you to live your life with love every day. It was always so hard to complain when you thought about Edna, who had no other family from the time we met her to the time she passed away, lived a simple life but full of joy for the Lord. The kind of person I only wish my children could meet one day, because there are fewer and fewer of their kind left in this world. I know she's in a better place now... which also makes it easier to say goodbye.

Then I compare her life to the girl in my IT audit class that was killed two days ago. She just came over from China to get a graduate degree in accounting, and for some reason not yet known, some guy she knew just killed her in the Graduate Life Center. I saw her once, it was a small grad class so you notice everyone, but not so small that you get to know everyone the first day. I have no idea what her life was like... but yet again it reminds me that life is so uncertain. The only certainty is God and His love.

I'm not going to make any other real spiritual applications of all this, but I felt like introducing these two events, to let them be known, first of the life of joy and fulfillment, and second of a life that any of us would call too short.

Alice

Tomorrow begins a new episode in American history, a monumental moment that no one will soon forget, yes... classes at Virginia Tech begin once again. In the midst of playing around with some different myspace things, I somehow stumbled upon this:

Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter?

Lost Inside A Day That Never Happened

It's almost time to head back to Blacksburg. A recap of my day follows:

Played Knights of the Old Republic. Accomplished quests on Kashyyk and Manaan. Good times. I haven't played video games for the longest time now so I thought I'd pick it up since everything Star Wars is excellent and it would pass the time.

Walked my dog. She trots well. Love that pooch.
Had some chill time with the family. Mostly ate dinner and talked about Phyl and Mom's days at Tabb. Mom liked the Korean kids in the ESL class.

American Idol. I have everything against that show yet I watched the season premierre and it wasn't that bad. It probably won't follow me to Blacksburg but at least I was hooked for a night.

Music wise I've been loving just chill. Got the new Jonezetta a few days ago and even tho it isn't the shake yo butt stuff like their early stuff its refreshing. Brings back sweet memories of the Peppermint Beach Club. Good guys in a good band.

I guess I can't wait to get back to school so I can get closer to being back with everyone here. Being with family is great but when everyone leaves for work I think Derby gets tired of my company.

Perspective.

Ok so this is the first blog and I don't really know why I'm doing it. After reading jholla and codybear's (thanks, boyz) I just thought, hey, why not give it a try if for nothing else than to just have another way to remember the good old days when I'm good and old. It also probably has something to do with the news story I read today about "the best job in the world". Basically, Australia is paying someone $105,000 to go on a vacation for 6 months on an island and live in a multi-million dollar house and all you have to do is blog about it while you enjoy being treated to delicious entertainment.

"The Best Job in the World"

So I've got to practice in case that sort of opportunity comes knocking on my door. I've also heard you can learn some stuff or something and whatnot about yourself by journaling...etc. and I've never really gone too far with this sort of thing. It certainly is interesting to read what friends have been thinking and doing and especially when I'm away at school missing being with them, maybe it will offer some sort of connection and make the time go by faster. Anyways, I'm not super witty, not super articulate, so maybe the only person this blog will interest is myself but, hey, ... heeeeey, who knows? Until next time...
